CEIBA Cargo, national airline of Equatorial Guinea, has appoints Aero Cargo, an affiliate of the ECS Group, as its sales agent for air cargo in Germany.

The two companies, also partners in Spain, expect to generate more volumes because Germany has close business ties with Equatorial Guinea, which has a growing oil and gas industry.

"We are very proud to have won this new contract and we are confident that together with CEIBA, we will be able to establish a regular and professional service for the German market. Furthermore, we are quite sure that this product is going to develop well alongside our existing African airline customers, including Africa West and Brussels Airlines," said German Aero Cargo general manager Antonio Oliveira.

Aero Cargo will move CEIBA Cargo's shipments through its Frankfurt hub to be consolidated onto scheduled trucking services to Vatry in France, which is CEIBA's flight departure airport for A300 services in Europe.

The ECS has set up a nationwide airline network in Germany including Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich.

It experienced robust growth in Germany last year, seeing a 51 per cent increase in tonnage against the 2009 volume to over 41 million kilos.

In the past 12 months, the ECS has won contracts in Germany with Bringer Cargo, CEIBA Cargo, Flybe, Garuda Indonesia, National Airlines and Navitrans
